Review: Rush Too Far

A sexy caveman look at how he fell from disdain to all consuming love.

In Fallen Too Far, Rush made a pretty bad first impression, not just on Blaire but myself as well. His man-whore ways coupled with the fact that he’s the son of a rock star, pretty much cemented the idea that he would live up to a bad boy reputation. Add to that his assholery treatment and attitude towards Blaire (I didn’t have to wait for Grant’s Harry Potter comment to immediately feel that way) and it was a done deal. Of course I kept reading, did a 180 and completely fell for the guy.

Now I get to fall in love with Rush Finlay all over again from start to finish. Because in Rush too Far we don’t just get a retelling of Rush and Blaire’s beginning, we get to look into what went on in his head, his turmoil and conflicting emotions, and events that we were unaware of ever taking place.

If you guys are fans of Abbi Glines, the Rosemary beach series and have a Rush Crush, you’ll love this book. If you’ve never read an Abbi book or the series and you can overlook the prologue which has a bit of spoilery comments, this is a good place to start.

She had no clue, nowhere else to go and no one to turn to. Blaire Wynn shows up unannounced at Rush Finlay’s door step. He knew who she was and what he had done, and no matter how alluring she was he had to keep her away because of it. But through this new perspective we know he really isn’t the douche most people think of him. He’s a loving brother, a loyal friend to those he lets in his close circle, a fixer of problems, a protector. So he lets her in his house, and by getting to know her she slowly gets under his skin and in his heart.

“She would be fine. I would make sure of it. She’d be mother-fucking perfect. I wouldn’t let anyone hurt her. I’d protect her… She wasn’t alone. Not anymore. She had me.”

But his inner struggle of having to choose between his sister and the woman he was falling in love with was almost constant and it hurt to witness, until the choice was taken away from him because he had Fallen too far.

“I needed to hold her. To feed the possessive beast she had awoken inside me… She was going to love me. I’d make her fall in love with me. Then… then she’d listen to me, and she’d forgive me. She had to.

It was also amusing and sexy to watch his inner caveman take over, never letting anyone remotely near her.

“She isn’t special. She’s fucking perfect… and she’s mine… Mine. Blaire is mine.”

But mostly I was swept away by his intense and fervent love for Blaire.

“I knew what her smile could do t me and how the way she looked at me controlled my fucking moods. It was like she’d become the sun, and I’d started revolving around her. She was my center.”

I highlighted so much sexy, swoony, loving, funny and sad conflicting moments the reaffirmed my Rush Crush. Thank you so much Abbi for this wonderful treat!
